FrogAsia: Fostering Next-Generation Learning through Gamification

Follow FrogAsia on :

At the congruence of education and gamification, children today are not only interested in learning but also look forward to the future logically and objectively. When children are excited about learning, they are automatically directed to become creative communicators, collaborators, and change-makers in their communities and across the world. Today, technology serves as the leading catalyst to revolutionize education, providing children with the knowledge, information, and skills to make the world a better place. And, who better to exemplify this than the Malaysia-based FrogAsia Sdn Bhd, an edtech startup that propels the global transformation of traditional classrooms into next-generation learning spaces through fun learning. “The gamification of education encourages students to revise their lessons consistently and continuously, rather than only during exam time,” states Lou Yeoh, executive director at FrogAsia.

On a mission to transform the way students learn and teachers teach through technology, FrogAsia offers a nationwide platform on the cloud—Frog VLE—that ensures full access to digital education for students regardless of their background or location. The company’s award-winning, cloud-based virtual learning environment (Frog VLE) simplifies and enhances the process of educating, communicating, and administering through gamified learning. FrogAsia opens the gates to better education, thereby leveling the playground for all students, to thrive in today’s competitive world. The Frog VLE platform is made available to all 10,000 schools in Malaysia via the Education Ministry’s 1BestariNet project, which was implemented to connect every school in the country through a single platform, fostering a collaborative learning environment. “Students can use our platform to complete homework, quizzes, and assignments as well as do research, assessments, and extra revision,” adds Lou.

Teachers can create lessons in the Frog VLE and fill it with a selection of customized widgets that perform a variety of functions; over 29 widgets are available VLE multiple with features such as video playing, file downloading, chat, and more.

By leveraging drag and drop actions, teachers can quickly build attractive sites that are rich with content and easy for students to use and learn. Added to this, FrogAsia partners with local and international textbook publishers, app creators, and other content partners to deliver best-of-breed learning content tailored to their specific ecosystems. Besides, the company also works with Yes 4G to provide 4G connectivity and related services, including student databases, antivirus services, and more.

With more than 15 years of market expertise, FrogAsia’s platform is not just used in Malaysia, but also finds wide application across the world in 23 countries and 12,000 schools, spanning a user community of more than 20 million teachers, parents, and students. The company is making lifelong learning a reality by empowering students with access to world-class knowledge and the right tools to apply this knowledge through internet and digital platforms. While Frog VLE enables teachers to teach their lessons virtually, give homework, and keep track of student performance, school administrators can use it to manage school calendars and create school notices. Furthermore, students can access the Frog VLE to obtain learning and revision material and can submit homework assigned by their teachers. Along the same lines, guardians can engage with the school in real-time and can stay up-to-date with their ward’s academic progress.

FrogAsia currently oversees pilot projects in low-performing schools and partners with organizations such as YTL foundation, Edunation, Khan Academy, TED-Ed, British Council, and more to add more value to its services. Also, coming up in the company’s future pipeline are plans to deliver affordable, bundled digital devices and internet connectivity to ensure that students have access to a quality learning environment to embark on their educational journey in a meaningful way.
